Daniel Frunza vs Vadim Kutsyj

  • Daniel Frunza
  • Age: 30
  • Pro Record: 8-2
  • Key Wins: Knocked out a 6-1 grappler, a 5-1 grappler and a well rounded 4-1 fighter.
  • Striking: above average (60)

  • Vadim Kutsyj

  • Striking: above average (60)
  • Power: above average (60)

The 1st round knockout over Ismail Naurdiev looks great on paper, but if you watch the fight, you’ll see that Naurdiev knocked Kutsyj down, got too aggressive, and got knocked out himself. Fight was pretty even while it lasted.

Chris’ Pick: Frunza by 1st round knockout.

Francesco Mazzeo vs Kevin Christian

  • Francesco Mazzeo
  • Age: 26
  • Pro Record: 4-0
  • Key Wins: Knocked out a 3-1 striker.
  • Striking: above average (60)
  • Power: above average (60)
  • Wrestling: a little above average (55)
  • Kevin Christian
  • Age: 29

  • Striking: a little above average (55)
  • Power: a little above average (55)
  • Grappling: a little above average (55)

Christian has a monster reach but for whatever reason gets dragged into brawls, which is to his detriment. Watched his last fight with a 4-1 striker in LFA and Christian was dropped, inches away from getting finished.

Chris’ Pick: Mazzeo by 1st round knockout.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Mazzeo -200

Cam Teague vs Kevin Vallejos

  • Cam Teague
  • Age: 26
  • Pro Record: 7-0
  • Key Wins: Knocked out Austin Lingo.
  • Striking: above average (60)
  • Power: above (60)
  • Wrestling: above average (60)
  • Kevin Vallejos
  • Age: 22
  • Pro Record: 13-1
  • UFC Record: 0-1
  • Key Wins: Knocked out Luiz Garagorri and a well rounded 6-0 fighter.
  • Striking: near plus (65)
  • Power: near plus (65)
  • Wrestling: near plus (65)

I love it when prospects take on UFC vets because it really measures where where the prospect is at with their skills. And yeah, the KO over Lingo looks good on Teague’s resume. But if you watch the fight, you’ll see it was a sloppy brawl. Teague took a ton of big shots and won the fight because he was more durable and Lingo ran out of gas. It’s possible Teague’s striking could be as low as a 55. Yes, Teague won, but I saw Lingo quite a few times in the UFC and he had good cardio. For him to gas out in the 2nd round of a 5 round fight, tells me he might not have trained the hardest for Teague. Jean Silva is off to a 4-0 start in the UFC. And only 1 fighter has won a round against Silva. Only 1 fighter hasn’t been knocked out by Silva. That 1 fighter is Vallejos. Now he returns a year later, a year older. I expect him to show up improved. Also, interesting to note that Vallejos closed as a -180 favorite over Silva on the Contender.

Chris’ Pick: Vallejos by 2nd round knockout.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Vallejos -250

Alexia Thainara vs Rose Conceicao

  • Alexia Thainara
  • Age: 26
  • Pro Record: 10-1
  • Key Wins: Submitted Rayanne dos Santos. Knocked out a 3-1 striker. Beat a well rounded 5-2 fighter.
  • Striking: a little above average (55)
  • Power: fringe average (45)
  • Grappling: above average (60)
  • Rose Conceicao
  • Age: 27
  • Pro Record: 7-0
  • Key Wins: Beat a 5-2 wrestler and a well rounded 6-1 fighter.
  • Striking: a little above average (55)
  • Power: fringe average (45)
  • Wrestling: a little above average (55)

Wasn’t that impressed with Conceicao. She fought an opponent with tools that are no better than a 55 grade. Possible Conceicao’s wrestling could be a 50.

Chris’ Pick: Thainara by 2nd round submission.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Thainara -175
