Van vs Pantoja 2, Tsarukyan vs Ruffy, Pitbull vs Choi Fight Picks – UFC 331 – September 19, 2026

Joshua Van vs Alexandre Pantoja 2

  • Joshua Van
  • Age: 24
  • UFC Record: 9-1
  • Key Wins: Knocked out Tatsuro Taira, Bruno Silva, Felipe Bunes and a 7-1 wrestler. Beat Brandon Royval, Rei Tsuruya, Cody Durden, and Kevin Borjas. Split decision over Zhalgas Zhumagulov.
  • Striking: near plus plus (75)
  • Power: near plus plus (75)
  • Wrestling: plus (70)
  • Alexandre Pantoja
  • Age: 36
  • UFC Record: 14-4
  • Key Wins: Knocked out Matt Schnell and Wilson Reis. Submitted Kai Kara France, Kai Asakura, Alex Perez, Brandon Royval, and Yuta Sasaki. Beat Steve Erceg, Brandon Moreno, and Manel Kape.
  • Striking: plus (70)
  • Power: plus (70)
  • Grappling: near plus plus (75)

I think this fight is going to be very similar to Van vs Taira. Pantoja will likely take Van down but Van’s submission defense is great and I see him being able to get back to his feet repeatedly. Van’s cardio plays his striking up to close to an 80 grade as he out struck Taira 104 to 43.

Chris’ Pick: Van by 3rd round knockout.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Van -225

  • Gable Steveson
  • Age: 26
  • Pro Record: 4-0
  • UFC Record: 1-0
  • Key Wins: Knocked out Elisha Ellison and a well rounded 11-3 fighter.

Steveson had a crazy pace in his UFC debut and I think he has the cardio to keep it up. He out struck Ellison 28 to 9. Striking could be a 70 already.

Chris’ Pick: Steveson by 1st round knockout.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Steveson -600

Iwo Baraniewski vs Alonzo Menifield

  • Iwo Baraniewski
  • Age: 27

  • Striking: near plus (65)
  • Power: near plus (65)
  • Wrestling: near plus (65)

It’s tempting to look at Menifield’s fight with Zhang and think that maybe he’s turning a corner and maybe leveling up to 70 tools, but he’s 38 years old with 20 career UFC fights. So probably more likely I was too high on Zhang. Baraniewski, I really have no idea if his striking is a 70 because his fights end so fast.

Chris’ Pick: Baraniewski by 1st round knockout.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Baraniewski -200

  • Grappling: near plus (65)

  • Striking: plus (70)
  • Power: plus (70)
  • Wrestling: near plus (65)
  • Grappling: above average (60)

After seeing the striking between Jourdain and Phillips be close to equal, there’s a slight possibility that Jourdain’s striking is closer to a 65.

Chris’ Pick: Jourdain by decision.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Jourdain -200

  • Striking: near plus (65)
  • Power: near plus (65)
  • Wrestling: above average (60)

Yoo has had 2 fights in the UFC but only has maybe 6 minutes of cage time. Small sample. And he got knocked out by Santos last time out but Yoo out struck him 30 to 18. So it’s very possible the striking could be as high as a 70.

Chris’ Pick: Yoo by 1st round knockout.

What odds I think the favorite should be at: Yoo -300
